As a new portrait artist my prices will be lower than an established artist with gallery exhibits.

My pricing would be roughly equivalent to £10-15 per hour to create the portrait.

The time required will be longer depending on the size, complexity and number of people in the picture. I would recommend a maximum of two people in each picture.

I will quote for a portrait and keep to the price once the size and any photograph has been agreed.

For example:

  • A4 Portrait (1 subject) - £50 (this is the smallest size I recommend for charcoal)

  • A3 Portrait (1 subject) - £75

What’s included. Hand-drawn original artwork. Quality paper and professional materials. Progress updates during the drawing process. This does not include framing.

Framing

Framing makes an enormous difference to how a portrait feels in your own home or as a gift.

For charcoal portraits the glass needs to be away from the page to stop smudging. This should be completed by a professional framer. I do not recommend buying a frame from a shop as these rest the glass directly on the page.

I can arrange the framing for you at a price less than you will find individually. I have links with an excellent professional framers and I can get your portrait framed for you. We would need a small conversation about a style you would like.
